about

This first recording by Katrina Krimsky was done in 1975 at Different Fur Studios, San Francisco. Her endeavor was to offer listeners a wide range of compositions from various musical sources. It includes her rendition of Terry Riley's "A Rainbow in Curved Air" using electronics. The great jazz trumpet player Woody Shaw wrote the tune "Katrina Ballerina" for her. First recorded here is her improvisation on the tune. Krimsky and Shaw together composed the solo piano pieces "Specs" and "Epilogue" heard here for the first time. Katrina performs "Sonata for Piano" by Samuel Barber, a masterful classical composition.
